From June 28th to July 31st, 2018, UrbanAct implemented a pilot program, titled “Coloring the Greek Islands”, with the participation of Greek and foreign artists.
The project, made possible with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s exclusive support, took place on four Greek isolated islands, namely on the islands of Agios Efstratios, Fourni, Lipsi and Leros, and consisted of public murals and street art activities.
The murals that have been created on the walls of public buildings display a variety of themes that have been decided together with the local communities, thereby aiming to showcase the traditions, myths and history of each place. The project also encouraged the participation of the islands’ residents and visitors.
