27 April 2018

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation, in the framework of its continued support to educational practices and initiatives aiming to enhance academic excellence both in Greece and abroad, collaborated with the Center for Talented Youth – Greece (CTY Greece) for the creation of an endowment fund that will provide scholarships, ensuring that all students will have the opportunity to broaden their learning horizons and be part of the unique experience of CTY Greece, regardless of financial circumstance.

In addition, the SNF supports a Scholarship Program, through which 156 children have received a scholarship to attend CTY Greece’s specialized educational programs.

CTY Greece began its operation in 2013, in collaboration with the internationally renowned Johns Hopkins University, with a founding grant from the SNF.

The Center, unique in its kind across Southeastern Europe, provides educational extracurricular programs, specifically designed for academically advanced students with a love of learning, through high quality and innovative teaching methods.

Since the launch of the Center’s operation to date:
• 7,050 students have taken the online exam
• 991 students, from Greece and Cyprus, participated in the Summer Day Camps in Athens and Thessaloniki.
• 646 students have participated in two-day weekend programs. The weekend programs have been carried out in different cities in Greece and in Nicosia.
• 337 students have attended online courses that included an overview of the Scratch programming language, an introduction to web design and the Java programming language.
• 50% of the students come from public schools, 50% from Athens and Thessaloniki and the rest from other Greek regions
• 900 teachers have benefited from the programs, while becoming familiar with the philosophy and the programs of CTY Greece
