Louise Mercadier, a young animation artist, encourages young patients to create their own marine creatures using materials, such as wood, shells, pebbles and plasticine in order to produce an animated movie, a virtual aquarium. Each hospital displays the virtual aquariums thus transforming the space and creating a relaxing environment for children with the immersive light and sound.
The animated film, as well as the patients’ artworks will be presented on Saturday, March 17th during an event organized by the Art dans la Cité at the Hellenic Pasteur Institute in Athens.
Founded in 1999 in Paris, Art dans la Cité aims to introduce contemporary visual art in hospitals with the ambition to contribute to the patients’ wellbeing and to improve the hospital environment.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation provided support for the implementation of the Illuminart project, and has provided significant support for similar projects in the past, such as La Démesure du Possible and Interactive Musical Planetarium.
