The 2017 world finals of the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools STEM competition, held in December 2017, in Abu Dhabi, brought together more than 150 students from schools in 16 countries to present their work and knowledge of 4x4 vehicle design, development, research and manufacturing.

The competition is addressed to students, aged 11 to 19 years old, and aims at generating greater interest and fostering enthusiasm among the youth in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), through hands on activities.

The “All 4 Greek Wheels” student team representing the Middle School of Fylis, in Athens, which was the only Middle School, as well as the only Greek public school to participate in the contest, ranked 8th in the overall rankings! The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has proudly supported the participation of the “All 4 Greek Wheels” team, covering their participation fees in this year’s world finals. Through their participation in the contest, the students built key skills and experiences, while also actively engaging with specialists in the vehicle engineering and manufacturing sector.

The SNF, aiming to foster greater participation of students from public schools, supports also the participation of Greek teams in the F1 in Schools competition, one of the largest international STEM competitions.
