The Delivery of the Vehicles to EKAV’s Branches across Greece, as part of the SNF’s Grant, is under way
12 JANUARY 2018
The vehicles are part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s grant to the National Center for Emergency Care (EKAV), totaling €14 million, entailing the procurement of 143 state-of-the-art and fully equipped ambulances, as well as their full service and maintenance for a period of 8 years. The grant is part of the SNF’s Initiative Against the Greek Crisis.
So far 44 vehicles have been delivered while all 143 vehicles are expected to have been delivered within January 2018. The new vehicles will be made available in various regions across Greece, with the objective of meeting the basic need for open access in matters of secondary and tertiary care for all the residents of the country. Specifically, the vehicles will be allocated to the regions of Attica, Central and Western Macedonia, Thessaly, Epirus, Central Greece, Ionian Islands, Western Greece, the Peloponnese, Northern and Southern Aegean and Crete.
In addition, through this grant, the Foundation will also support the digital upgrade of EKAV’s Operations Center in Attica which receives more than 1,700,000 calls annually (EKAV 2016 data).
