16 JANUARY 2018 / Inauguration of the new Day Care and Creative Activities Center for People with Disabilities in Piraeus

On January 18th, 2018, the Piraeus Association of Parents, Guardians and Friends of People with Disabilities, will host the inauguration of the new premises of its Day Care and Creative Activities Center (Educational Centre for People with Disabilities in Piraeus-PEK/AmeA) in Piraeus.

The execution of the renovation works, as well as the outfitting of the new space, were carried out through a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). The grant is part of the SNF’s Initiative Against the Greek Crisis.

The move to a larger state-of-art space will enable the organization to develop a comprehensive social structure, as well as to increase the number of its beneficiaries.

The Piraeus Association of Parents, Guardians and Friends of People with Disabilities was founded in 1996 serving as a resource for people with disabilities in the wider region of Piraeus. Since 1997, the Association operates the Educational Centre for People with Disabilities, which provides, among others, psychosocial and counselling support, creative activities and independent living skills development. The SNF has previously supported the organization by covering the Center’s operational expenses and ensuring its economic viability.
