The award was given in recognition of their outstanding work in designing and implementing the Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program. The awards ceremony took place in Budapest.
The Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program (GDFP) is designed to help avert Greece’s brain drain and develop long-term, mutually beneficial collaborations between universities in Greece and the United States and Canada. Selected Greek- and Cypriot-born scholars from universities in the United States and Canada travel to Greece to conduct academic projects with their peers at Greek universities. Launched in 2016, the GDFP is managed by the Institute of International Education, in collaboration with the Fulbright Foundation in Greece, and is funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
The Institute of International Education is a world leader in the international exchange of people and ideas. IIE designs and implements programs of study and training for students, educators, young professionals and trainees from all sectors with funding from government agencies, foundations, and corporations.
