Comprehensive used clothing management system, Fabric Republic: No Empty Clothes (N.E.C), supported by the SNF

The innovative project “Fabric Republic” establishes partnerships with NGOs to encourage sustainable and effective management of used and surplus clothing for the benefit of vulnerable social groups.

Through the use of clothing collection, selection, cleaning and storage methods, as well as through the recycling of clothes that can be reused, the “Fabric Republic: No Empty Clothes (N.E.C)” project, aims to provide clean and quality clothing to people in need, and hence to tackle a pertaining throwaway culture, as well as contribute to the development of collective social and ecological awareness.

The program which is made possible through a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation has been developed according to existing models of sustainable clothing management abroad.

On Wednesday, December 20th, 2017, the inauguration of the Fabric Republic’s new clothing management facilities is held.
