28 NOVEMBER 2017 / The SNF attends event in honor of bone marrow donor volunteers

The Centre of Bone Marrow Donor Volunteers (CBMDP) – “Save a Life” along with the Parents Association of Children with Cancer – Floga, held on Monday, November 27th, 2017, an event to honor Greek bone marrow donors. During the event, bone marrow recipients met with their donors.

The Parents Association of Children with Cancer - Floga was founded in 1982. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), in the context of its long-term support to Floga’s work, most recently provided support for renovation works and the purchase of equipment for the organization’s newly established Hostel.

The CBMDP is a nonprofit local registry center that was established in 2010, under the auspices of University of Patras, in cooperation with the Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit of the University Hospital of Patras. The SNF has supported through a grant CBMDP’s activities to advance public awareness about bone marrow donation throughout Greece, as well as recruitment of potential donors to Greek and international bone marrow registry. The grant supports also the lab testing on donor samples.
