13 NOVEMBER 2017 / SNF Αwarded by the Hellenic Association of Medical Physicists for its Replacement of Radiotherapy Equipment in Public Hospitals

On Friday November 11th, we attended the annual event of the Hellenic Association of Medical Physicists, celebrating the International Day of Medical Physics on the occasion of the 150th anniversary from the birth of Marie Curie. During the event, the SNF was awarded for its support of the Greek health sector and specifically for its initiative for the replacement of radiotherapy equipment in public hospitals.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation, with a total grant of €20 million, supports the replacement of 10 obsolete linear accelerators in public hospitals around the country, with new, state-of-the-art and high precision linear accelerators, contributing significantly to the treatment of cancer patients in Greece.

As part of this initiative, the SNF supports the Hellenic Association of Medical Physicists for the implementation of training programs for the relevant medical personnel of each public hospital that will receive a new linear accelerator.

Recently, the SNF announced a new grant initiative totaling more than €200 million to further enhance the Health sector in Greece, with a series of infrastructure and education projects.
