The SNF supports Prolepsis’ School Food Aid Program for the Seventh Consecutive Year
16 OCTOBER 2017

The Institute of Preventive Medicine, Environmental & Occupational Health (Prolepsis) implements for the seventh consecutive school year the Food Aid & Promotion of Healthy Nutrition Program - DIATROFI, supported by a major grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), in public schools located in socio economically vulnerable areas.

The program’s objective is, on the one hand, to provide all participating students with the opportunity to receive a daily free, healthy and nutritious meal and, on the other hand, to promote the importance of healthy nutrition to students and their families, via specially designed informational material and educational events and activities.

Since its establishment, in 2012, to date, the DIATROFI program has provided more than 14 million meals to approximately 593 schools and 110,500 students across Greece. The SNF provided the founding grant for the establishment of the DIATROFI program as part of its Initiative Against the Greek Crisis. Simultaneously, since 2015, the SNF has been supporting the Program through an additional matching grant, thereby doubling any other contributions that the Prolepsis Institute receives and enabling the program to offer support to more students in need.

Additional information about the DIATROFI program is available here.
