The Stavros Niarchos Foundation exclusively supports the “160 plus” program, a one-of-its-kind program in Greece which provides comprehensive and specialized home support for Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers. The program is being implemented by the Psychogeriatric Association “Nestor”, since 2016.
Through the program, specialized, free of charge caregiving and support services are offered to more than 160 families, which are living in the Municipality of Athens and are affected by the Alzheimer’s disease. The services are provided by a specialized scientific staff, including a psychologist, a social worker, an occupational therapist, as well as volunteers.
Family members – care givers and members of the organization’s intervention team talk about the program, its component services, as well as its contribution to improving quality of life for patients, increasing the efficiency of care and reducing psychological stress for both the patient and care giver.
