Perinatal Mental Health Helpline for Pregnant Women and New Mothers, operated by “Fainareti”, with the SNF’s support
26 SEPTEMBER 2017
The helpline operates daily and is staffed with specialized healthcare professionals, psychologists and midwives.
Through the active listening process, the helpline provides psychological support, information and counselling on pregnancy and postpartum for pregnant women, women who have recently given birth, new mothers, fathers, as well as their broader family and social environment. The objectives of the helpline include the timely detection of women suffering from perinatal mental disorders and their referral to mental health facilities for integrated care and follow-up services. In addition, the helpline aims to combat the exclusion from the provision of perinatal care services of women living in remote areas of the country (rural areas and islands).
“Fainareti” is a non-profit organization which was founded in 2006, with the aim of research and intervention for the promotion of women’s health and their families in Greece.
