Interview of the first SNF Fellows of the Lede Program in Kathimerini
29 September 2017

The Greek journalists and fellows of the Lede Program talked to the newspaper Kathimerini about their participation in this year’s intensive summer courses at the Columbia Journalism School, in New York City, made possible through a Scholarship Program exclusively supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

As part of the Scholarship Program, younger as well as more experienced journalists and journalism graduates from Greece have the opportunity to attend specialized training courses in journalism implemented by the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.

The six Greek SNF Fellows describe their participation to Lede program as “a life experience through which they gained invaluable knowledge, an asset for the next day of journalism”. Specifically, in their interview, the fellows refer to the innovative “skills for the numerical analysis of the story” that were taught, as well as the hands-on and investigative journalistic tools needed to process data and turn them into narrative, thereby allowing for a more comprehensible coverage of the news.
