14 August 2017

The newspaper Proto Thema hosts a recent article on the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) noting the unique aspects of the project which the article states is changing the way we see Athens.

Specifically the article notes that following the example of other such cultural centers around the world, the SNFCC finds itself in a respectful dialogue with the urban environment and has become a destination for visitors of all ages, offering a place where “culture, knowledge and high aesthetic quality co-exist in complete harmony”.

The author of the article quotes the SNF Co-President, Mr. Andreas Dracopoulos, who in the past has stated that “excellence and beauty depend on simplicity”, thereby capturing the essence of SNFCC.

In addition Kathimerini in a recent article presents the Reading Room of the National Library of Greece at the SNFCC. During the author’s recent visit “dozens of people had left their houses early, overcoming the heat and the almost compulsive demands to go to the beach, and had decided to spend their morning (or their day) in what is by definition the most idyllic place in the entire city to read, study, work, browse the Internet, read your newspaper. And all of this, even before the official move of the National Library of Greece in its new state-of-art facilities.”
