21 JUNE 2017 / The traffic study for the surrounding area of the SNFCC has been completed

From the very first day of its operation, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) has been a constant pole of attraction for visitors. Since August 2016, to date, more than one million people have visited the SNFCC and its facilities: the Stavros Niarchos Park, the new facilities of the Greek National Opera and the National Library of Greece, or have attended the hundreds of events organized in its premises.

Over the following days, even more people are expected to visit the SNFCC, hosting ground of  the Summer Nostos Festival—organized and funded exclusively by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation—, between June 18 and June 25.

Given the ever-growing response of the people to the programs and events hosted at the SNFCC, and  aiming to ensure the smooth access of visitors in combination with the unhindered circulation of the area’s residents, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation funded a traffic study, designed for the SNFCC and its surrounding area. Phase A of the study has already been completed and submitted to the Municipality of Kallithea, which in turn has started the process of consulting and informing citizens. The consultation phase is expected to be completed in July, followed by the statutory approval and implementation process.

Both the Stavros Niarchos Foundation and the SNFCC are expecting the earliest possible implementation of the measures, in order to resolve the area’s traffic issues as soon as possible.
