29 May 2017

On Monday, May 29th, at the premises of the Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspapers (ESIEA), ActionAid Hellas held a Press Conference for the presentation of the organization’s new initiative in Greece against economic and social exclusion, namely the establishment of a multipurpose venue for action and change, named Epikentro. In collaboration with organizations and experienced professionals, Epikentro aspires to provide innovative educational programs, access to information, as well as particular psychosocial, counselling and legal support services.

To support this initiative, the Municipality of Athens has donated a building for the housing and operation of Epikentro.

Among the supporters of the new project, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) supports, through a grant, the establishment and one-year operation of Epikentro.

ActionAid is an international organization, which, since its establishment in 1972, has been running activities in the fields of emergency assistance, social welfare, education, health/medicine, with the aim of combating poverty around the world and of educating people about their fundamental human rights.
