03 MAY 2017 / Over 1 million visitors at the SNFCC

Since June 2016, to date, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) has reached one million visitors of all ages, both from Greece and abroad, fulfilling its mission to provide a dynamic, open to all, public space.

Through a wide range of open activities and events hosted each month at the SNFCC, through the exclusive grant of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), the SNFCC has quickly emerged as a communal meeting point for culture, education and entertainment.

In addition to the scheduled sports, educational and cultural activities carried out by the SNFCC, hundreds of visitors of different ages and interests enjoy on a daily basis SNFCC’s facilities and spaces. Pupils participate in organized school visits, students make use of the NLG’s reading room, families enjoy leisure walks, fun activities and games at the Stavros Niarchos Park, visitors of all ages enjoy performances at the GNO’s new halls, while a wide range of audiences participate in the various events taking place during the evenings.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center design, construction and full equipment is the largest single grant of the SNF. In February, 2017, following the completion of the SNFCC’s construction, the SNF delivered the SNFCC as a gift to the Greek State, the legal owner of the project.

At the same time, the SNF announced its commitment to continue supporting the SNFCC for the following five years, through grants totaling up to €50 million for the implementation of public programming and for covering SNFCC’s operational costs.
