11 MAY 2017 / American School of Classical Studies at Athens Annual Spring Gala

On Wednesday, May 10, the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA), a SNF grantee, held their annual spring gala in New York City.

The evening honored Malcolm H. Wiener, founder of the Institute for Aegean Prehistory and the School’s Wiener Laboratory for Archaeological Science, with the Athens Prize, for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of knowledge of ancient Greece. Lloyd E. Cotsen, former President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Neutrogena Corporation, was honored with the Gennadius Prize, for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of knowledge of post-antique Greece. Staff from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation attended the event, in addition to many other friends of the school.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation has supported the ASCSA since 2003 for a number of projects, including digitization of unique collections of the Gennadius Library, and implementing a new catalog system, among others.
