The championship, which took place from April 18th to April 22nd, 2017, was co-organized by Ploigos Antiparou Athletic Club and the Committee of Chess Clubs of the Aegean under the auspices of the Greek Chess Federation and the South Aegean Region. 11 teams and 140 chess players of all ages from 10 islands in the North and South Aegean participated in the championship. The SNF grant covered the transportation costs of the participants to attend the championship.
The Rhodes “Knight” was the overall winner of the championship which came first in all three categories.
Ploigos Antiparou is an Athletic Association for children, established in 2015, which provides chess, basketball and cheerleading for children between 7-15 years old.
