First Linear Accelerator Installed at the University Hospital of Heraklion
15 February 2017

The first SNF funded brand-new linear accelerator (linac) has been installed at the University General Hospital of Heraklion in Greece, as part of the SNF’s Radiotherapy Program.

The new linac will begin its clinical operations in two months, providing key radiotherapy treatment for cancer patients in the surrounding areas.

Supported exclusively by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Radiotherapy Program supports the replacement of 10 obsolete linear accelerators in seven public hospitals in Greece. The new, state-of-the-art equipment will significantly improve the treatment of cancer patients throughout the country.
