Inauguration of the new Library of ASFA, with the SNF support

Jan 24, 2017
The new, state of the art, Library of the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) was inaugurated on Monday, January 23rd. The relocation of the Library to its new, larger, building was made possible through the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

The SNF grant provided for the necessary infrastructure and construction elements,  and additionally covered the complete outfitting of the space as well as the design of a new lecture hall.

The upgraded services of the Library are addressed to 1,600 ASFA students, to academics, to the wider artistic community and to all those who are interested in the cultural sector.

The new Library is ten times bigger than the older one, and its collection is compiled by 64,000 editions, 410 magazine titles, 5,000 audiovisual volumes, plus a rare collection of old art books, a digital collection, and a collection of approximately 500 engravings. It was established 180 years ago, which makes it the oldest –and more complete- Art Library in Greece.

The Library is located at the campus of the Athens School of Fine Arts on Piraios Street.
