01 SEPTEMBER 2016 / Τhe 65th Regular Assembly of the Special Advisory Committee of the Greek State with the SNF for the SNFCC Took Place

On Wednesday August 31st the 65th regular assembly of the Special Advisory Committee of the Greek State with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) for the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) took place at Megaro Maximou in the presence of the Prime Minister Mr. Alexis Tsipras and the relevant Ministers responsible for the project. The meeting was attended by the permanent committee members and representatives of the SNF and SNFCC, including among others SNF’s co-President, Mr. Andreas C. Dracopoulos.

The committee was informed on the progress of the delivery process of the SNFCC to the Greek state. In addition the committee discussed among others matters concerning the transfer of the Greek National Opera and the National Library of Greece to their new headquarters as well as matters concerning the project’s future operation in general.

The Prime Minister Mr. Alexis Tsipras stated “The State will operate in a responsible manner this important place of education, culture and environment…It is our duty to ensure that we do whatever it takes so that we allow the project to offer society all that it can.” The Prime Minister thanked the SNF and specifically Mr. Andreas Dracopoulos for “their efforts into bringing this important vision into life.”

Mr. Dracopoulos stated «Τhe project, no matter how nice it is, won’t be a success unless people make it their own. But people have already embraced it…With a common goal and without other agendas we can achieve a lot together as a country.”

The committee meetings promote the effective partnership and cooperation between all parties involved, and are considered particularly important for the future operation of the SNFCC, as they provide participants with the opportunity to be informed on the developments of the project, exchange opinions, and manage any issues that may arise regarding the project’s operation in a timely manner.
