Valued at approximately $20,000, the scholarship was produced through the transfer of an endowment from the University to the SNF Centre for Hellenic Studies. The endowment was established by Stanley Morisse in 1993. It was created in recognition of his native country, Greece, his interest in Cyprus, and as an expression of his humanitarian philosophy.
The terms of reference were revised in 2016 by Morisse’s family and the University to support graduate students based on academic merit. Previously, the scholarship supported students transferring to SFU from a school in Cyprus.
