The event was attended by members of the academia, as well as the scientific and cultural communities of Greece and Turkey. The Center aspires to act as a bridge between the two countries and as a hub for promoting the history and cultural heritage of Byzantium. More specifically the Center aims to establish an international undergraduate and postgraduate program, provide a common ground for researchers located in different institutions and countries, and pursue archaeological field projects. The founding of the Center of Late Antique and Byzantine Studies at Koç University is supported by the SNF.
