23 JANUARY 2015 / Symposium at the Frick Collection, entitled “El Greco Comes to America: The Discovery of a Modern Old Master”

On January 26, the Frick Collection will be hosting an SNF funded symposium entitled “El Greco Comes to America: The Discovery of a Modern Old Master”.

The symposium, which will commemorate the 400th anniversary of El Greco’s death, will bring together international experts on El Greco and will lay the foundation for a publication.

An internationally recognized house museum, library and research center, The Frick Collection was the vision and legacy of Henry Clay Frick, a Pittsburgh industrialist. Since 1935, museum visitors can see Western European paintings, sculpture and decorative arts from the Renaissance to the late nineteenth century.
