Opening at the Louvre of the exhibition “Rhodes, une île grecque aux portes de l’Orient”
10 November 2014

The SNF is proud to support the significant exhibition “Rhodes, une île grecque aux portes de l’Orient” which reveals Rhodes’ little known, but rich archaeological heritage.

The exhibition aims to explore the island of the Dodecanese, from the Bronze Age to the end of the Archaic period, highlighting the Orientalist nature of Greek art in part influenced by the island’s strategic position between the Aegean and the East. This exhibition will be on show at the Louvre from November 14, 2014 to February 9, 2015 and will serve as a great opportunity to promote and celebrate the heritage and history of Greece.

The Louvre is one of the most famous museums in the world, with a collection comprising 35,000 works of art from antiquity to the early nineteenth century, displayed in an area of over 60,000 m².
