Grants Supporting the NLG and GNO - Stavros Niarchos Foundation

While the construction of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center proceeds according to the original timeframe, provisions are also being made to ensure the Center’s smooth future operation. Part of the preparations include monthly meetings attended by SNF and SNFCC representatives, representatives of the Greek National Opera and the National Library of Greece as well as representatives from the relevant ministries and the Office of the Prime Minister.

The purpose of these monthly meetings is to ensure that all involved parties are up to date and informed of the progress of the project and of the transfer of the two organizations to their new premises. During a meeting held in the presence of the Prime Minister and the relevant Ministers, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, through its President Mr. Andreas Dracopoulos informed the NLG and the GNO of its intention to support the two organizations in their programming while they prepare for their transition to the SNFCC. The Foundation is solely responsible for the study, design, construction and outfitting of the SNFCC.

In addition the Foundation announced its intention to provide a grant of 5 million euros to each organization to support their programming needs and transition to the SNFCC. The SNF is expecting specific proposals from the two organizations before evaluating them and proceeding with the grants.
