Born Free announces SNF grant to combat mother-to-child transmission of HIVOn October 27th, during an event co-hosted by LVMH and Born Free, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation challenge grant for Born Free’s efforts to combat mother-to-child transmission of HIV in Kenya and Tanzania was announced.

The audience included some of Born Free’s implementing partners like the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the MAC AIDS Fund.

Born Free Africa is a private sector-led initiative established in 2011 with the sole objective of eliminating mother to child transmission of HIV (eMTCT). Though the clinical solution exists and there are ample financial resources in the system to reach elimination, most countries have not been able to execute their HIV programs at the pace required to achieve it. Born Free brings business acumen, mindsets and resources and unites coalitions of private enterprises to co-recruit and develop local African talent who work behind the scenes in their own governments to unblock obstacles and drive change.
