Expedition to Survey Reptile Species on Indian Ocean Islands
01 MAY 2014

As part of its research program, the American Museum of Natural History sponsors scientific expeditions around the world. In January 2013, Dr. Christopher Raxworthy, a curator at the Museum, and his team embarked on a Constantine S. Niarchos Expedition to several island groups in the Indian Ocean, hundreds of miles off of Africa's eastern coast, to survey reptile species.

The Constantine S. Niarchos Expedition, established by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, supports research expeditions across all of the Museum’s scientific disciplines. The expeditions further the Museum´s research and add to the depth and breadth of its collections.
