Olympic Village Polyclinic Inaugurates Two Mobile Medical Units

On January 9, 2014, the inauguration of two Mobile Medical Units and an MRI Scan by Health Unit (AEMY) marks the commencement of the National Health Care Program, which will provide outpatient care and preventive medicine services to the population of islands and remote areas throughout Greece. The Program is being implemented with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Karolos Papoulias, is expected to preside over the inauguration event. The Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, is scheduled to attend the ceremony as well.  

The Foundation’s initiative has supported the purchase and outfitting of two mobile medical units and an MRI scanner, as well as all the necessary medical equipment, which will help address people’s essential need to have open access to reliable and  comprehensive healthcare services. The Foundation’s support marks the beginning of a 5-year National Health Care Program, which aims to provide outpatient care and preventive medicine services to the inhabitants of islands and remote areas throughout Greece.
