23 MAY 2012 / The Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s new grants

The Board of Directors of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, during its recent meeting, approved a new series of grants for the Spring-Summer 2012 season. The grants are based on the Foundation’s philosophy, to provide relief for society’s most vulnerable and to create better conditions for the future, to the extent of our abilities, by supporting and promoting Education, Social Welfare, Health & Medicine and Arts & Culture.

In addition to these grants, the Foundation announces today additional grants totaling €10,2 million to Not For Profit Organizations, as part of its initiative to help address the adverse effects of the socio-economic crisis in Greece. 
These grants represent the third phase of the Foundation’s major initiative to grant €100 million over the next three years, aiming to support Greek society in the midst of the country’s current crisis.
The 39 Greek Non Profits that will work closely with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation over the next few months, in order to conceive and implement programs that are both innovative and impactful, are engaged in the areas of Social Welfare, Health & Medicine, Arts  & Culture, and Education, which represent the four major programmatic areas of the Foundation’s actions.

The above grants express the Foundation’s belief that the crisis demands a clear strategy and long-term commitment. Their ultimate purpose is, on the one hand, to provide immediate relief for those most in need and, on the other hand, to create the appropriate conditions for a better future.
