The newly renovated Municipality of Vouliagmeni Adult Guest House offers shelter to people in need
18 August 2010

The Municipality of Vouliagmeni Adult Guest House is holding an event to mark the opening of its renovated facilities on Tuesday, August 24th, 2010, at 10 am. Following renovations that lasted a year, the Guest House is now in a position to offer high quality living conditions to its guests, helping to improve their difficult everyday lives.

The Municipality of Vouliagmeni Adult Guest House can accommodate 38 self- sufficient adults. It was founded in 1986, in order to provide moral support, shelter and food to people who are unable to remain in their own homes, for any given reason.
The Guest House’s mission is to help people who are at a productive age reenter society as quickly as possible, and to assist the elderly or those in weak health in finding specialized care centers, such as nursing homes. In the years since its founding, the Guest House has hosted more than 2,000 people, many of whom were homeless, unemployed, recovering drug addicts, cancer patients, and women who have suffered mental and physical abuse.
The Guest House was renovated and re-equipped through a grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, as part of its effort to support underprivileged populations and contribute to social welfare.
