“Heaven” is a multi-leveled festival of modern art, stretching from the coastline of Faliron and Kallithea, in the southern suburbs, to the Olympic facilities and up to Batis and Floisvos. The founders and artistic managers of the second Biennale, XYZ, have invited a team of noted curators to express themselves on the subject of heaven.the Athens Biennale 2009, titled “Heaven,” which will take place from June 13 (pre-opening until June 14) to October 4, 2009.

All six exhibitions have been designed by the architect Andreas Aggelidakis to reflect a different approach to the subject while also maintaining a creative connection to the other exhibits.

The Biennale is organized by the Athens Biennale Non-Profit Organization, founded in November 2005 by Xenia Kalpaktsoglou, Poka-Yio, and Augustine Zenakos. Martinez, Chief Curator of the Museu d’ Art Contemporani de Barcelona. In addition to the above-mentioned exhibitions, smaller-scale exhibitions and events such as screenings and music performances will take place within the Biennale’s framework.
