The reconstructed ICU at ”P. & A. Kyriakou” Children/s Hospital

One of Greece/s most important sites for children/s acute care, the intensive care unit of ”P. & A. Kyriakou” Children/s Hospital has been reconstructed and renovated after twenty years of operation.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Hospital’s amphitheatre, Thursday June 29th at 13.00, and the Member of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Board of Directors, Mr. Andreas Dracopoulos will also participate and address the panel. 

The reconstruction project, funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, covers renovation works, isolation rooms for patients who have infectious diseases, air conditioning equipment, a room to provide advice and psychological counseling to parents of patients, a room for medical personnel, a dispensary and a depository, and various other equipment needed for the unit to operate according to the highest standards. 

The unit manages major cases from all over Greece, and to date more than 4,000 children with serious illnesses have been hospitalized there. In addition, the ICU is the only facility in Greece that trains undergraduates of the Medical School of the University of Athens.
