“As a history/education Major, I have always wanted to travel to Greece. It is so rich with history and culture. Studying abroad in Greece was truly the best experience of my life. The people, food, ruins, art, beaches, and cities were absolutely incredible! I feel so lucky that I had the opportunity to participate in such an unforgettable program.”

Salem State students experience Greece
For the second time, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) proudly supported this on-the-ground experience for students, many of whom would not otherwise have had the chance to study abroad. Salem State professor Mandy Lobraico conceived and led both trips.

“This experience has inspired me to want to continue traveling. Greece is so beautiful and safe, so I will certainly return one day. We visited Poseidon’s Temple, which was mind-bowing! Santorini is indescribable and I especially loved the Red Beach. The ruins of Akrotiri, rumored to be the Lost City of Atlantis, were so interesting, and I learned so much about Ancient Greece on that visit. I learned so much about Greek culture, travel and myself on this trip. It changed my life for the better and I am so grateful for the experience.”

“These study abroad trips with Mandy Lobraico have opened my eyes to the beauty of the world, and the beauty of life. Mandy Lobraico is an amazing professor and person who has this incredible capability of bringing people together. Our most recent visit to Greece gave me the opportunity to meet forever friends, engage in deep conversations and genuinely appreciate the many contributions of the ancient Greeks. The experience was life-changing.”
SNF has supported a similar experience for students at New York’s Hunter College, as well as other opportunities for college-aged students to enrich their education with an experience in Greece.
