Traveling Art, an inclusive documentary

Mar 29, 2022
“Art is one type of effective medicine,” says author Vassilis Vassilikos. Visual artist Konstantinos Katagas agrees, “It gives you the ability to continue to live, even if you are imprisoned.”

This exchange reflects the essential belief of Traveling Art—first a program of ARTOGETHER and now a documentary of the same name—in the extraordinary human power of art.

The documentary, directed by Alexandros Hatzis, will be screened at TRIANON cinema in Athens at 18:30 on April 8, with free admission for all. It documents a journey of equal artistic collaboration between people with and without disabilities, collaboration that led to the parallel creation of works by 25 artists and 25 writers. This creative dialogue led to a cooperative publication, an exhibition that traveled to cities around Greece, and, most recently, the film.

The screening will be followed by a discussion between the contributors and the audience.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) supported the implementation of the Traveling Art program and publication through an exclusive grant to ARTOGETHER-Art of People With and Without Disabilities. Our support is part of a wider effort to strengthen inclusion and accessibility for all.
