Van Gogh is going to school. A new program from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is offering free, interactive art lessons and teaching resources for primary and secondary school students based on the painter’s life and work.
Through Van Gogh at School, primary students can paint a subject outdoors, spot the differences in modified versions of The Bedroom, write their own museum labels, and much more. Secondary students can paint a self-portrait, draw parallels between van Gogh and other artists, and see how UV light can help conservators study paintings.
The launch of the multilingual program, available in English, French, and Dutch, was supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) as part of its efforts to ensure broad access to arts resources, especially for young people. SNF believes that engaging with art can help us appreciate our shared humanity and connect with one another across differences.
