The event was opened by the Rector of NKUA, Professor Gerasimos Siasos. Professor Pavlos Myrianthefs, Chair of the Department of Nursing at NKUA, underlined SNF’s vital role in supporting the nursing sector in Greece through the implementation of educational and research programs and scholarships, as well as the procurement of research and educational equipment. Remarks were also given by Professor Daphne Kaitelidou, the Vice President of the Department of Nursing at NKUA, and Charalambos Roussos, Professor Emeritus at NKUA Medical School.
On behalf of the Foundation, Board of Directors member George Agouridis accepted a commemorative plaque, saying, “The grant that is being recognized tonight at this event is not about numbers, technology, or programming. It is about people, people who are at this moment dreaming of becoming nurses and helping their fellow human beings, despite the difficulties facing the sector and the challenges they will have to face from day one. With the help, contributions, and invaluable guidance of the Department’s professors, we are proud to be able to offer them some tools that will make their journey easier.”

As part of SNF’s Global Health Initiative (GHI), we seek to provide substantial support to nurses through grants to the Department of Nursing at NKUA and the Nursing School of Athens Evangelismos General Hospital—because it’s our duty to support those who support us in our most vulnerable moments.
