As is HSS tradition, Dr. Sculco’s official Surgeon-in-Chief portrait was unveiled, and will soon join the portraits of all former Surgeon-in-Chiefs.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) has long supported the Hospital for Special Surgery. Ten years ago, the SNF and HSS partnered to establish fellowships and seminars for Greek surgeons at HSS. This collaboration provides an important avenue for knowledge sharing and exchange. Dozens of surgeons from Greece have participated in the seminars. Most recently, the SNF provided major support for the Thomas P. Sculco, MD Chair in Orthopedic Surgery. This chair, which Dr. Sculco will now hold, will fund interdisciplinary and collaborative research efforts at the Complex Joint Reconstruction Center.
SNF Co-President, Andreas Dracopoulos, along with several members of HSS leadership, sang Dr. Sculco’s praises at the event, highlighting his commitment to patient care, research and physician education. His remarks can be found here.
Hospital for Special Surgery is the No. 1 ranked hospital for orthopedics in the US, as per the latest U.S. News & World Report (2016-2017), and also is home to the nation’s top-ranked residency program in orthopedic surgery. The Foundation is honored to be a supporter of its efforts in the US and around the world.
