Field of Life kicks off its programming in Nikaia, Greece

Three-point shots, hip-hop dance, comic book heroes, spray paint graffiti, astronomy, and robotics. This is how the first Saturday of November started for more than 100 kids from Nikaia, marking the launch of Field of Life’s programming. The big kickoff took place at the 12th and the 17th Elementary School of Nikaia—where Field of Life’s leader, beloved basketball coach Panagiotis Giannakis, was once a student himself!

The nonprofit Field of Life was established at the initiative of and with founding support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), with the goal of providing kids and adolescents the tools and guidance they need to explore their talents and interests, develop skills, grow in character, and reach for their dreams. After kicking off its programming in Nikaia, Field of Life aims to take it across Greece in the near future. These events are a precursor to the organization’s main work, which will begin to gear up in 2024 when the organization’s state-of-the-art new facility opens to host a multitude of daily activities for school-age children.
