AthenSYN I Festival Kicks off in Berlin with HOMEMADE EXOTICA Exhibition

A new exhibition in Berlin invites contemporary Greek artists to explore Athens’s place in European culture today.
HOMEMADE EXOTICA, the inaugural exhibition of the new AthenSYN I festival, opened in Berlin at FREIRAUM in der box in Berlin on Thursday, November 14. Guided tours and talks with artists followed on November 15 and 16. The exhibition, which is supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) will remain up through January 2, 2020.
The organization behind the festival, AthenSYN, was founded in 2016 by an art historian and a “culture scientist” and seeks to offer a framework, beyond politics and economics, for collaboration between Greeks and Germans. SNF has supported a range of projects seeking to foster Greek-German exchange and collaboration, including a Greek-German Literary Symposium in Berlin last year.
