Andreas Dracopoulos joins a discussion on Greece’s civil society ecosystem
On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Co-President Andreas Dracopoulos took part in the Civil Society Happy Hour event organized by the nonprofits Shedia and Higgs at Shedia Home in Athens.
The event is designed as an opportunity for people to meet each other, discuss current issues, share from experience, and explore potential partnerships. It’s been embraced by representatives of a range of civil society organizations who attend and actively participate in the discussions.
The founder of Shedia, Christos Alefantis, and the co-founder of Higgs, Sotiris Petropoulos, welcomed Andreas, kicking off the discussion with questions related to philanthropy and pro-social initiatives, the characteristics and qualities that should guide future nonprofit organizations, and positive examples to follow at the international level. The conversation then opened up with attendees engaging in an open public dialogue that involved an exchange of views and perspectives.
Andreas reflected, “Today, it was a great pleasure to meet with representatives of civil society organizations at the discussion organized by Shedia and HIGGS. We have had the honor of supporting both organizations from their very first steps, and we are very proud to see what they are achieving on the ground. Tonight’s event was an excellent opportunity to exchange thoughts with our longstanding partners on the common issues and individual challenges we face every day, each of us contributing in our own way, but all of us focusing on empowering humanity.”
