Jan 29, 2016
By virtue of a decree by the President of the Republic of France, issued on January 5th, 2016, the SNF’s Co-President, Mr. Andreas Dracopoulos, has been awarded the rank of the Officer of the Legion of Honor of the Republic of France.

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, the Legion of Honor, officially National Order of the Legion of Honor (Ordre National de la Légion d'honneur), premier order of the French Republic, was created by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, as a general military and civil order of merit conferred without regard to birth or religion provided that anyone admitted swears to uphold liberty and equality.

Ranks of the Legion of Honor may be awarded to foreign (non-French) citizens in recognition of actions benefitting the country of France or, more broadly, achievements which endorse its ideals.
