SNF Nostos Run 2026

Apr 01, 2026
Run for fun, for a good cause, and to join us in celebrating the Stavros Niarchos Foundation’s (SNF) 30-year journey with humanity at the core!

The SNF Nostos Run, the popular evening race from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), returns on June 23, 2026, as part of SNF Nostos 2026, which celebrates SNF’s 30 years of grantmaking! The race, which is organized in collaboration with the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress, represents all that staying active can do for us, from strengthening our concentration to improving our mood and boosting our creativity, but above all reflects the importance of striving toward a goal, especially when it is a collective one. Celebrating three decades of grantmaking and with an emphasis on the spirit of giving and solidarity, SNF will triple-match the amount raised from the runners’ entry fees to support this year’s partner nonprofit organizations: the Greek nonprofits Lampsi and Pnoi Agapis.

The run starts at the Panathenaic Stadium in the center of Athens and finishes at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), the run includes 10K and 6K routes, as well as a 1K route for Special Olympics athletes. The 10K route will start at 20:50, the 6K at 21:10, and the 1K at 20:50. Along the route, percussion bands Quilombo and Batala will help set the pace, and the finish line will be soundtracked by an energetic DJ set.

Organizational supervision of the race is provided by the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress and the Department of Sports Excellence – Sports Excellence at the 1st Orthopaedic Surgery Clinic of the Medical School of the University of Athens.

The SNF Nostos Run is noncompetitive in nature, but official times will be kept for all those wishing to track their performance.

Running for a good cause

Once again, the SNF Nostos Run is charitable in nature. Runners are invited to contribute a nominal participation fee of €5 (or more for anyone who wishes to do so) to support the work of nonprofit organizations Lampsi, which strives for excellent medical and pediatric care for children in Northern Greece with serious diseases, and Pnoi Agapis, “an association of volunteers for the social and emotional support of people with cancer and their families.” Runners’ donations will go even further with SNF’s additional support. SNF will triple each contribution (for example, for every €5 contribution, SNF will contribute an additional €15, so that the organizations will receive a total of €20 from that entry into the run).

*A few words about the nonprofit organizations

Lampsi
The LAMPSI association was founded in 1987 in Thessaloniki by parents from all over Northern Greece whose children were infected with a serious disease and were hospitalized in the pediatric oncology departments of Thessaloniki.

Lampsi was founded with the aim of providing excellent medical and pediatric care to children suffering from serious diseases by establishing and equipping specialized oncology, hematology, and diagnostic imaging units. At the same time, it supports children and their families by providing moral, social, and financial assistance, as well as every other possible form of support. Lampsi’s work is based on solidarity and a shared commitment to a better tomorrow for children.

Pnoi Agapis
Pnoi Agapis is an association that provides social and emotional support to people with cancer and their families. It operates two guest houses for patients and their caregivers who come from all over Greece to be treated at cancer hospitals in Attica. To date, it has hosted more than 6,000 people. In addition to providing accommodation, Pnoi Agapis offers free psychosocial support programs that provide relief and respite for both patients and caregivers throughout the treatment process.

Now in its 16th year, Pnoi Agapis supports 500 cancer patients and their caregivers each year through its two certified guesthouses and thanks to the dedication of its 300 volunteers. The association's sustainability depends on donations and fundraising activities.

Payment of the entry fee must be made by credit or debit card through the nonprofit Regeneration & Progress, which is responsible for the organizational supervision of the race. The total amount raised after SNF’s triple-match will then be equally divided and donated to the partner nonprofits, Lampsi and Pnoi Agapis.

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) is a philanthropic organization that makes grants to nonprofit organizations. SNF does not accept donations from individuals, companies, or other types of organizations.
The SNF Nostos Run is made possible by support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), which covers all costs associated with holding the race, as part of SNF Nostos 2026.
