Our deepest condolences on the passing of National Library of Greece Director General Filippos Tsimpoglou

All of us at SNF wish to express our deep sorrow for the sudden loss of Filippos Tsimpoglou, Director General of the National Library of Greece (NLG).

Since taking over as Director General of the NLG in 2014, Tsimpoglou’s personal dedication and consistency contributed significantly to the monumental task of preparing for and executing the relocation of the NLG’s collections and services to its new home at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center—and to transforming the Librarygenerally into an institution open and accessible to all.

As he himself said, “The NLG aims to activate, coordinate, and mobilize societies to transcend from the local to the universal and from the individual to the collective.”
