New short film celebrates the community created through the SNF ARTWORKS Fellowship
“What scares me most about my profession is how precarious it is,” says one artist. “Every time I’m on stage, I wonder if it’s the last time I’ll be on stage.”
For 390 artists in Greece across a range of disciplines, one bulwark against the precarity artists everywhere can feel is the strong community of SNF ARTWORKS Fellows. Through the fellowship, created in 2017 through a founding grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), ARTWORKS has distributed millions of euros in financial awards and organized hundreds of professional development and networking events through five cycles of the fellowship—all to support artists in pursuing and growing in their practice.
Watch the short film directed by Daphné Hérétakis (SNF ARTWORKS Fellow 2018) and Konstantinos Samaras (SNF ARTWORKS Fellow 2019), made possible through support from SNF.
SNF has helped support people early in careers in the arts through grants for the Joan Miró Prize in Barcelona, scholarships at The Courtauld Institute of Art in London, internships at MoMA in New York, and beyond.
