Meet Columbia’s new Institute for Ideas and Imagination 2023-24 fellows
What happens when you bring together people working in fields from Africana Studies to architectural history and in media from film to poetry, hailing from Egypt, Venezuela, Greece, South Korea, and beyond, and give them a new intellectual home in Paris? We’re about to see.
The fifth cohort of fellows at Columbia University’s Institute for Ideas and Imagination, who will begin the one-of-a-kind yearlong residency this fall, has been announced. Meet the fellows. Other Institute for Ideas and Imagination programming for the year includes two Displaced Writers Residencies.
A significant grant from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) recently helped Columbia University’s Institute for Ideas and Imagination continue and expand its self-described work “to foster fresh ways of thinking about art, scholarship, and knowledge.” This built on SNF’s support for the Institute for Ideas and Imagination from its earliest days, and for Columbia’s SNF Public Humanities Initiative, which seeks to bring humanities insights to life for the public and will now become the Institute's public-facing arm.
