Columbia University Announces a New Initiative: the Institute for Ideas and Imagination

The Institute is committed to intellectual innovation and inter-cultural dialogue to promote deep reflection and fresh perspective. It will reside at the Reid Hall, part of Columbia University’s Paris Global Center in France. Dr. Mark Mazower, the Ira D. Wallach Professor of World Order Studies in the Department of History at Columbia University, will be the Institute’s founding Director.

An initial cohort of 14 fellows will be hosted for a one-year residency in the fall of 2018. Seven of the fellows will be from Columbia’s faculty, and the remainder scholars, writers and artists from around the globe. Furthermore, the Institute will host workshops, conferences, and programs to ensure the knowledge and insights gained at the Institute are shared.
