Become the story: Ιstorima

Oct 07, 2019
Do you enjoy listening to stories and learning new things?
Do you love your home country and want to preserve stories that are about to fade in time? Are you aged 18-35 and looking for a job? Then maybe Istorima is what you are looking for.

Istorima (www.istorima.org) is a non-profit organization aiming to create a large archive of Greek oral history and offer temporary employment to youth from across the country. More than 1.500 researchers will be trained in the methodology of oral history and interviews, expected to collect more than 50.000 oral stories from all corners of Greece. The stories will be included in a large oral history archive open to researchers and the public. Select stories will be uploaded at www.istorima.org.

Istorima is being implemented through a founding grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, as part of the SNF’s Recharging the Youth Initiative. The project is taking place in collaboration with the Simon Fraser University in Canada.

Istorima is headed by the historian and Provost of New York University Katherine Fleming and journalist Sofia Papaioannou.

The participation call for youth interested in joining the Istorima team will be announced shortly. Stay tuned!
